Of Wellington's suburban clubs, Tawa's record is the most consistent over the past several years, Playing in the Jubilee Cup rounds five years in a row from 2003-2007 and again 2012 – 2014. In the 1998 season our Premiers played in the final of the Jubilee Cup. In both 2009 and 2011 they were successful in winning the Hardham Cup title. In 2009 they did so after winning every game in the round-robin and clinching the top qualifier's spot with two rounds to spare. In 2011 they upset top qualifiers and favourites OBU 25-20 in the final (celebration shot pictured). They also won the Hardham Cup in 1994 and 2002.
2013 will be remembered as the most successful year the Club has experienced. The Premiers won the Swindale Shield (winner of the first round), the Andy Leslie trophy (winner of the second round), the Jubilee Cup and retained the Bill Brien Cup, Our Senior First team won the Ed Chaney Cup and our Colts the Vic Calcinai Cup and the 85kg team was runner up in the Paul Potiki Shield.
The Season culminated by receiving the “Team of the Year” at the Wellington Rugby Union Awards evening, along with Steve So’oialo rightfully receiving the “Coach of the Year”.
